It is also seen as a satirical depiction of Victorian society and its hierarchies. A square, who is a resident of the two-dimensional Flatland, dreams of the one-dimensional Lineland. He attempts to convince the monarch of Lineland of the possibility of another dimension, but the monarch cannot see outside the line. The square is then visited himself by a Sphere from three-dimensional Spaceland, who must show the square Spaceland before he can conceive it. As more dimensions enter the scene, the story's discussion of fixed thought and the kind of inhuman action which accompanies it intensifies.<br/><br/>Listed by <a It is more often than not the closest we can now get to what Shakespeare actually wrote. But the folio's antiquated typography and cramped layout make it remote and inaccessible to modern eyes. The Shakespeare Folios on the other hand offer easy access directly to the First Folio by presenting the text in modern type but otherwise unchanged. All the First Folio's idiosyncrasies of layout and spelling, even its obvious errors, have been scrupulously left intact, but the text suddenly becomes as easily legible as the script of any modern play. Now readers can see for themselves what the Folio actually says: whether and where there are stage directions; where the punctuation falls; and exactly how the speeches are set out line by line. And they can make up their own minds about the problematic words and phrases that have puzzled generations of Shakespeare scholars. As an additional aid to understanding, readers will find, printed opposite each page of the Folio, the very same passage in a modern edition. So, whenever the Folio presents a problem, the reader can refer to this parallel text for a solution, either in the text itself or in the set of notes at the end of the book. These notes draw on the long tradition of Shakespearean scholarship and include full reference to surviving Quarto texts. Using these two versions of the play in parallel - one thoroughly authentic, the other carefully modernized - readers, be they students or scholars, actors or directors, theatregoers or Shakespeare specialists, can achieve an unprecedented understanding of one of the most significant works in the history of English literature.<br/><br/>Listed by <a href="https://unglue.it/work/201085/">Unglue.it</a>.</div></Text></TextContent><SupportingResource><ResourceContentType>01</ResourceContentType><ContentAudience>00</ContentAudience><ResourceMode>03</ResourceMode><ResourceVersion><ResourceForm>01</ResourceForm><ResourceVersionFeature><ResourceVersionFeatureType>01</ResourceVersionFeatureType><FeatureValue>D502</FeatureValue></ResourceVersionFeature><ResourceLink>/static/images/generic_cover_larger.png</ResourceLink></ResourceVersion></SupportingResource></CollateralDetail><PublishingDetail><Publisher><PublishingRole>01</PublishingRole><PublisherName>Project Gutenberg</PublisherName></Publisher><PublishingStatus>00</PublishingStatus><PublishingDate><PublishingDateRole>01</PublishingDateRole><Date>20000701</Date></PublishingDate></PublishingDetail><ProductSupply><Market><Territory><RegionsIncluded>WORLD</RegionsIncluded></Territory></Market><SupplyDetail><Supplier><SupplierRole>11</SupplierRole><SupplierName>Unglue.it</SupplierName><Website><WebsiteRole>29</WebsiteRole><WebsiteDescription textformat="06">pdf file download</WebsiteDescription><WebsiteLink>https://unglue.it/download_ebook/208515/</WebsiteLink></Website><Website><WebsiteRole>29</WebsiteRole><WebsiteDescription textformat="06">epub file download</WebsiteDescription><WebsiteLink>https://unglue.it/download_ebook/208513/</WebsiteLink></Website><Website><WebsiteRole>29</WebsiteRole><WebsiteDescription textformat="06">mobi file download</WebsiteDescription><WebsiteLink>https://unglue.it/download_ebook/208514/</WebsiteLink></Website></Supplier><ProductAvailability>20</ProductAvailability><Price><PriceType>01</PriceType><PriceAmount>0.00</PriceAmount><CurrencyCode>USD</CurrencyCode></Price></SupplyDetail></ProductSupply></Product><Product><RecordReference>it.unglue.work.138965.217507</RecordReference><NotificationType>03</NotificationType><ProductIdentifier><ProductIDType>01</ProductIDType><IDTypeName>unglue.it edition id</IDTypeName><IDValue>217507</IDValue></ProductIdentifier><ProductIdentifier><ProductIDType>03</ProductIDType><IDValue>9789053567739</IDValue></ProductIdentifier><DescriptiveDetail><ProductComposition>00</ProductComposition><ProductForm>ED</ProductForm><ProductFormDetail>E107</ProductFormDetail><EpubLicense><EpubLicenseName>CC BY-NC</EpubLicenseName><EpubLicenseExpression><EpubLicenseExpressionType>01</EpubLicenseExpressionType><EpubLicenseExpressionLink>https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/</EpubLicenseExpressionLink></EpubLicenseExpression></EpubLicense><TitleDetail><TitleType>01</TitleType><TitleElement><TitleElementLevel>01</TitleElementLevel><TitleText>Hitchcock's Motifs</TitleText></TitleElement></TitleDetail><Contributor><SequenceNumber>1</SequenceNumber><ContributorRole>A01</ContributorRole><PersonName>Michael Walker</PersonName><PersonNameInverted>Walker, Michael</PersonNameInverted></Contributor><Language><LanguageRole>01</LanguageRole><LanguageCode>eng</LanguageCode></Language><Subject><SubjectSchemeIdentifier>20</SubjectSchemeIdentifier><SubjectHeadingText> 20th century</SubjectHeadingText></Subject><Subject><SubjectSchemeIdentifier>20</SubjectSchemeIdentifier><SubjectHeadingText>Cinéma</SubjectHeadingText></Subject><Subject><SubjectSchemeIdentifier>20</SubjectSchemeIdentifier><SubjectHeadingText>English Authors</SubjectHeadingText></Subject><Subject><SubjectSchemeIdentifier>20</SubjectSchemeIdentifier><SubjectHeadingText>Film</SubjectHeadingText></Subject><Subject><SubjectSchemeIdentifier>20</SubjectSchemeIdentifier><SubjectHeadingText>Film adaptations</SubjectHeadingText></Subject><Subject><SubjectSchemeIdentifier>20</SubjectSchemeIdentifier><SubjectHeadingText>Film criticism</SubjectHeadingText></Subject><Subject><SubjectSchemeIdentifier>20</SubjectSchemeIdentifier><SubjectHeadingText>Film, TV &amp; Starting from recurring objects, settings, character-types and events, Michael Walker tracks some forty motifs, themes and clusters across the whole of Hitchcock's oeuvre, including not only all his 52 extant feature films but also representative episodes from his TV series. Connections and deeper inflections that Hitchcock fans may have long sensed or suspected can now be seen for what they are: an intricately spun web of cross-references which gives this unique artist's work the depth, consistency and resonance that justifies Hitchcock's place as probably the best know film director ever. The title, the first book-length study of the subject, can be used as a mini-encyclopaedia of Hitchcock's motifs, but the individual entries also give full attention to the wider social contexts, hidden sources and the sometimes unconscious meanings present in the work and solidly linking it to its time and place.<p>In de overvloed aan Hitchcock-boeken, heeft Hitchcock's Motifs een nieuwe invalshoek weten te vinden.
